Kpler is a rapidly growing data intelligence company providing transparency solutions in energy markets. We develop data pipelines that enrich data from hundreds of sources in real-time, ranging from logistics (satellite images) to governmental and shipping databases. We then derive and forecast key informations for commodities traders and analysts.

What you will do

Role Purpose

Kpler is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer in charge of our real-time platform operations and infusing devops culture.

We believe in the mantra “You build it, you run it”, that’s why in addition to monitor our real time platform, your focus will be to enhance the processes and tools that help the developers to code fast, test fast and deploy continuously. As we gather more and more data, scalability of the architecture is another challenge!

Main Responsibilities

  • Enhance and automatise data pipeline infrastructure (currently AWS, Ansible, Heroku)
  • Enhance monitoring, logging and alerting systems and escalation processes
  • Design and implement deployment tools and processes for testing and production
  • Be the technical referent on infra/CI/CD.
  • Educate the team on devops culture
  • Contribute to the overall architecture

What we are looking for

Knowledge & Experience

Must Have

  • 5 years of experience in similar position
  • Experience with AWS, Heroku or other PaaS and IaaS cloud
  • Extensive experience working with linux CLI, bash, python or other scripting language
  • Expert in one configuration management (ideally Ansible or Salt, Puppet and Chef)
  • Extensive experience working with database, relational (ideally PostgreSQL) and NoSql (Redis, ElasticSearch or similar)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices


  • Play2, Scala
  • Ideally with a first experience in start up

Key Competencies

  • Like to work in a fast moving environment, managing a real-time 24/24 7/7 platform
  • Crafty, handy and pragmatic, you commit on Open source projects and you are present on GitHub
  • Open-minded, even if it is a very tech position you are ready to understand our specific business issues

Recruitment Process

  1. 30 min skype/hangout to discuss your experience and motivations
  2. Technical discussion on site and HR interview
  3. Half day with the engineering team to assess the culture fit and help the candidate see our day to day
